From Scott Reed Today is the third day at work. It is a half day. The
wake up music was from Seasame Street, Kermit and Ms. Piggy,
and Silly Songs with Larry. Breakfast's main dish was
waffles. With sides of eggs, ham, and sausage. They also
have cereal for those who would like it. Work is only a half
a day today, but it seems that we did the most work today.
We did not take as many breaks today. It did not seem as hot
and there was a very nice breeze. Today four of the crew
painted the ceiling of the porch. My work director and I put
up aluminum skirting. We didn't know exactly what to do so
we did what we could, it does not look perfect, but it
works. We took off the old siding and put it in a pile. We
had lunch and our devotions and eleven thirty. At noon, when
we started to clean up, we were told,"Throw the wood down
the hill over yonder." We left after transporting the wood.
The crew arrived at the school at twelve forty- five. Now we
have time until we meet at two. We left at about two fifteen
from the school. Off to Graceland we were. We took highway
51 to I 40, then getting on I 240. We were suposed to get
off at exit 5B, but missed it. So the group took the next
exit and went to Graceland. At Graceland two of the three
vans went into the wrong parking lot. Soon we were taking a
picture at the gates of Graceland, or a backdrop of it. We
were given tape players for the tour. The youth group was
split between two tour vans. At Graceland we saw the house,
backyard, stables, manager's office, raquetball room, trophy
room, and Garden of Meditation. In the Garden lies Elvis,
his parents, and grandmother. We boarded two van's again and
traveled to the Graceland visitors center, where we ate at
the resturaunt there. It was interesting that they could not
put all of our orders on one reciept. Faith Westwood's
Junior UMYF left for the school, and the variety show. On
the trip we practiced " Go Fish" and listened to Elvis
songs. The group arrived at the school at seven, to prepare
for the opening act in the variety show. Dr. Bixler and I
had prepared the words for "Go Fish," so that the audience
could sing along. The song was very very very very very very
very very very very very very very very good. The rest of
the show was as awesome as the beginning. After there was a
party for all the camp. For reasons beyond our control there
was no youth group gathering for us.
